Small not Simple: Minimalist Modern Modular Home Design

A summer home should be simple insofar as it is easy to maintain, inexpensive, comfortable and requires little work to get back into working condition after being idle for a while. While this miniature modular house by Tommie Wilhelmsen takes advantage of cheap materials, a simple plan and a small site to save on costs, it is also compelling in its three-dimensional spatial complexity.

Seen from the outside, the secluded enclosure of an upper bedroom also wraps to form a semi-enclosed deck space below. The volumes that comprise the house fit together but also provide views in various directions and some privacy between each interior and exterior room.

The interior of the building is modern and minimalist as the exterior. Simple white walls and mostly built-in furniture populate these spaces and open shelving and clean lines are found throughout making everything easy to keep tidy.

Nooks and crannies are formed by the wrapping exterior walls to create comfortable interior spaces within the plan – without letting them become cramped by being fully divided and isolated.

Shifts in elevation are also employed to make each small space a distinct section inside of the structure as a whole. While it is only a summer home this would be a wonderfully rich set of spaces to live in year round as well.

Indoor Gardening Tips for Yellow Leaves

The appearance of yellow leaves on houseplants presents one of the most common problems for indoor gardeners. This blight affects many types of plants and ruins the effect of bringing greenery into the home. Causes for yellowing leaves range from poor soil and nutrient deficiency to overgrown plants and overwatering. Remedying yellow leaves requires investigative work to determine the cause before restoration will bring the plant back to its normal health.

Light
Shifting plants around to meet decorative needs often results in a failing plant. Choose locations suitable for each plant based on light requirements. Lack of foliage as well as yellowing results when plants receive insufficient indoor light. Always consult the growing information provided with a new plant to select the best location. See additional resources for more information about houseplant light requirements.

Soil Quality and Fertilizer
Pots serve as the primary habitat for houseplants. Soil contains nutrients that decrease with age, leaching through the pot with watering and as the houseplant uses the nutrients for growth. Indoor plants develop yellowed leaves from decreased nutrients in potting soil. The application of nitrogen-based indoor plant fertilizers will aid the yellowing leaves and increase the health of the plant. A complete change of the potting soil will also provide a better environment to limit leaf yellowing as will a larger pot with fresh soil to remedy a suffering pot-bound plant. Always apply fertilizer based on recommendations printed on the container. Too much fertilizer causes yellowing of leaves with elevated levels of nitrogen.

Overwatering
Each plant requires a particular amount of water for optimum health. The type of container figures into the watering requirements as well. Overwatering causes damage to the roots that translates to yellowing at the tips of leaves. Pots should drain quickly into the sink or a drainage tray placed beneath the pot. Overwatering occurs when gardeners don't allow the top inch of soil to become dry between watering.

Spider Mites
A yellow hue to indoor plant leaves often signals the presence of spider mites. The appearance of spider mites requires aggressive treatment to remove these damaging pests from the plant. Topical treatments aren't recommended for use indoors. However, spraying the plant in the tub with a mister or fine-spray shower head will remove many of the mites. Yellowed leaves or finely spun small webs may be present in the underside of leaves. Clean the plant regularly to control infestation and monitor other plants for the presence of spider mites.

How to Maintain Indoor Plants

Indoor houseplants add beauty to any room. They are not only aesthetically pleasing but also work to clean the air inside your home. Most people do not really know how to maintain indoor plants correctly. Although they require very little maintenance, some guidelines should be followed to make sure your indoor plants thrive inside the home.

Step 1
Water indoor plants only when it is necessary. Too little water, and the plant will wilt. Too much water, and the roots will rot. Soil should be kept moist but not saturated in water.

Step 2
Water the soil directly, and avoid watering the plant foliage. Continue watering until the water begins to drain.

Step 3
Remove plants from windowsills at night during cooler months. Although plants love the light during the day, the temperature drops at night can kill houseplants.

Step 4
Maintain an even temperature for your houseplants. Temperatures should stay between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. At night they should not be any cooler than 55-degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 5
Place plants that require high humidity in kitchens and bathrooms. Orchids do very well in these types of environments.

Step 6
Fertilize indoor plants once a month with a water soluble plant food. To promote growth, do not fertilize plants that are dormant.

Step 7
Report plants when they become too large for their existing pots. Prepare new pots with potting soil, and transplant the plant. Be careful when disturbing the root system of the plant. Expect the plant to look unhealthy for a few days until the shock of being moved has passed. Most plants recover in 3 to 5 days.

Step 8
Set your plants so they have indirect sunlight at least 6 hours a day. Most indoor plants will thrive on this type of lighting.

Luxury Bedroom Decoration

Here I will describe in a systematic way several steps that can be done prior to painting on the walls of your home.

* The first step, try the free wall of dirt, such as (oil, land, and others), and also make sure the wall is not in a damp state.

* Avoid the use of saline sand. If you already use a salty sand, then the wall will like map, always wet and oily.

* After going through the steps above, the wall has been deemed ready to enter the next to stage, namely the use of filler (interior / exterior).

* After the pore walls covered with neat, begin painting with a paint primer / sealer, and finally followed by painting colors for finishing.

In choosing a paint color for the walls of your home, it is better adapted to the needs or requirements, for example, whether for interior or exterior of buildings.

This is quite important given the differences in interior and exterior climate that strongly influence the type of paint that is suitable for use.

Selection of a suitable color for the living room or dining room which has a category of space with high activity, use bright colors like white, beige, light yellow, which can help bring a warm atmosphere in your room.

As for the break room, such as the bedroom is better to use colors that are darker and softer, like the color brown, maroon, or by using a wallpaper that is able to bring a soft impression to the room.

The most important is the color selection should be tailored to the theme of space, type or color of furniture in the room.

Actually there is no limitation in the choice of wall color, depending on the emotional side, experience, space and voter trends, as well as some other considerations.

Actually there are still some things and other data that can be used as input to the paint color to the room mother, but because of space limitations, I can not explain in more depth again.
